The official launch of the Grand Lottery took place on 22nd May 2005 at 4.00pm at the Dewan Barkath, 21 Beach Street, Penang.  The Lottery was officially launched by Penang Chief Minister

Our Samajam's mammoth fund-raising project, the Lucky Draw 2006, came to an end with a total sales amounting to RM800,000.00.

A prize-giving dinner was held at the Samajam on 5th February 2006 under the auspices of the Rt Hon Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, State Executive Councillor YB En PK Subbaiyah and State Assemblyman for Batu Lanchang, and YB En Ng Fook On.  The Chief Minister gave away the top 10 prizes.  Life Member Dr Indra C Nair drove home the 1st prize of a Honda City 1.5 car worth RM85,000 while Mr Ravindran K Nair from Kangar was the lucky winner of the 2nd prize, a Perodua Kancil car valued at RM40,000.  Other top 8 prize winners are as follows:

3rd Prize:    Sony 34" Flat Screen TV - Y Bhg Datuk Ravindran Menon

4th Prize:    Honda 125 cc Motorcylce - Mr Murugesu Muniandy

5th Prize:    Honda 100 cc Motorcylce - Ms Chitra Devi Madavan

7th Prize:    Dell Laptop Computer - Y Bhg Dato' Mohanakrishnan

8th Prize:    Golden Holiday for 2 to Bali - Mr Oomen Zachariah

9th Prize:    Golden Holiday for 2 to Bali - Mr Ravindran S Pillai

10th Prize - Gold Jewellery worth RM2,000 - anonymous

 

A portion of the proceeds will be channeled to the AMMA Education Foundation and Asian Institute of Medicine, Science & Technology 9AIMST) in Kedah.

The rest of the funds will be utilised for the restoration of our Heritage building in Penang and the construction of a community hall in the same premises.  The Samajam house in Sg Petani will be the other beneficiary where an extension of the hall and the construction of a porch are planned.
